Woodhouse is a holiday house for rent located in the fishing village of Agger on the northwest coast of Jutland, one of the most remote areas of Denmark. The house is nestled less than a kilometer from the North Sea, on a large secluded property with large mature trees and plenty of natural vegetation.
The house was designed by Danish architect Søren Sarup of Puras Architects. The idea was to do something completely unique but in total respect to the environment. The surrounding woods played a significant role in the design of the house.
Completed in 2018, Woodhouse with an area of 124 sqm consists of amain house, an outbuilding, and a covered wooden terrace that connects the two buildings. The house displays a contemporary angular structure, with an exterior cladding of Douglas fir panels combined with a natural slate tiled roof. The main house has an open plan living room, a fitted kitchen and a dining area that opens onto nature on two sides through large windows that extend from floor to ceiling. The master bedroom with a window nearly five meters high and a view of the surrounding woods as well as its bathroom are on the East side of the house. The West-facing outbuilding houses two other bedrooms and a shared bathroom with shower. One of the bedrooms has a mezzanine with two additional beds for children. Woodhouse can accommodate up to 6 adults and 2 children maximum. Interiors feature a modern Danish design with high ceilings, thick pale wood floors, and white walls for a minimalist mood. A wood-burning stove and exposed beams add some hygge to the house which feels cosy. Plenty of picture windows and panoramic windows up to 16 feet high offer views of exterior trees and let natural light and nature inside. The house is rented out on weekly bases or weekends.
Primarily a stay from Saturday to Saturday in high season. Woodhouse is ideal for a Danish getaway close to the sea and in the middle of nature.
