La Guardia is situated in a wonderful location, on the port of the attractive Italian island of Giglio, a Tuscan archipelago. The old abandoned classic 1950s hotel was bought in 2017 to be transformed into a perfect cocooning retreat. The ambitious renovation project lasted three years and involved two large international companies (Block722, a Greek-Norwegian studio specializing in contemporary architectural projects in the Cyclades Islands) and Rosario Magariños (for the architectural project). The interiors have been managed directly by the owner, designer Flavio Caprabianca, who has brought to life an eclectic mix of elements, with a fresh, informal yet highly refined style. La Guardia is located in a privileged position above the rocks, overlooking the sea of the island of Giglio.
The hotel has 27 double rooms and suites with private balconies, terraces, or panoramic windows overlooking the port and the sea, with the sound of the waves playing in the background. All rooms are decorated in a bohemian chic and contemporary style with neutral colors and natural materials (such as wood, stone, and concrete), designer pieces, and modern Italian furniture. The rooms feature ivory floors with matching curtains, raw wood tables, wicker lamps, and beach-themed items that create a warm Mediterranean vibe. The bathrooms are modern with a walk-in shower.
The buffet breakfast is served on the terrace. The hotel has a lounge space with a fireplace, a bar, and a restaurant that serves Mediterranean dishes with ingredients and wine from the island. Yoga classes and massages can be arranged upon request. The island offers various activities such as cycling, relaxing on the beach surrounded by crystal clear water, exploring the hiking trails, tasting wine in a local vineyard, or strolling through the charming streets of Giglio Porto.
