Ergon House: Hotel in Athens
Ergon House is a multipurpose concept that combines a delicatessen, restaurant and hotel in the heart of Athens.
A foodie hotel in the heart of Athens
Ergon House is located at the foot of the Acropolis in the historical heart of Athens.
Ergon is the family business of Thomas and George Douzis, created in 2011 to promote small-scale Greek producers. The brand, which owns restaurants and delicatessens, now has 13 boutiques around the world. Unique, Ergon House is the first place where gastronomy and hospitality meet. Completed in 2019 by Greek architectural firm Urban Soul Project, Ergon House is a multipurpose place dedicated to the modern gastronomy-oriented travelers. The space consists of an older two-story building with a listed facade, a 25-meter glass atrium, and a new four-story construction. The ground floor includes a 200-year-old olive tree, an impressive fresco, a spectacular marketplace, a constellation of greengrocers, a butcher, a fishmonger, a bakery, a delicatessen, a roasting house, along with a bar and restaurant which celebrate the best of Greek cuisine culture. You have to cross the atrium to access the hotel entrance.
Ergon House has 38 rooms divided into four different types. All offer stunning views of central Athens and the Parthenon or the atrium through full-size windows. Designed in collaboration with local designers and artists, the refined interiors feature natural materials, traditional craftsmanship, and a neutral color palette. Decorative cinder blocks refer to the entrances and lobbies of downtown Athens buildings of the ’60s. The bedrooms are divided into three areas including an elevated large open sleep area, the sitting area with the desk and a bench, and the bathroom with a basin cut from a block of marble.
The common areas are spread over the different floors, they include lounges, communal kitchens permit guests to turn produce into meals, a gym for a good conscience, as well as a roof terrace planted with olive trees that has unbeatable views of the city.
Ergon House is the hippest place in town.
