Casa Grande: Hotel in Grañón
Casa Grande is an old country home in northern Spain transformed into a peaceful place to rest and relax.
A unique experience
The Casa Grande hotel is located in the heart of Grañón, a small village in the La Rioja region. The hotel owners, Mònica and Raül with their two daughters, left the Costa Brava and their hectic lifestyle.
Casa Grande is nestled in an abandoned 18th century mansion that has been completely renovated and transformed by the studios Francesc Rifé, and Blur Arquitectura. The hotel features a sober and subtle color palette, modern furniture, and materials that peacefully coexist with the building’s history. Outside, the windows have been modernized with black iron frames. The ashlar walls have been preserved.
The hotel counts 11 intimate rooms, all different from one another, spread over the house’s two upper floors. They are designed with stone masonry, brick walls, concrete, and natural oak flooring. The rooms are refined and furnished with custom-made headboards and wardrobes made of black poplar wood, and designer furniture such as CH44 armchairs by Carl Hansen & Son, RC chairs by Blasco & Vila, hanging chairs by Milan Iluminación, Aryn desk chairs by Inclass, and Cestita Batería lanterns by Santa & Cole. The 6 suites on the 2nd floor each have a small sitting area and high ceilings with exposed wood beams. Some rooms have built-in window desks with views over the roof. The atmosphere is all-around soft and warm.
The first floor includes the hall with a large metal welcome desk, a library, and a lounge area. Right next door the restaurant, with its backlit glass cellar and bar, offers traditional La Rioja cuisine made with fresh local products. The hotel also has a terrace with green Hay furniture.
Casa Grande is a truly unique experience.
