Built on the Cerro do Botelho hill, in the village of Sao Bras de Alportel in the Algarve, Farmhouse of the Palms is a rural guesthouse where modern design meets countryside simplicity.

Originally an abandoned farmhouse falling into ruin, this 200-year-old “monte”, was renovated by the Flemish couple and owners, Veronique and Frank. Farmhouse of the Palms tastefully combines many authentic elements with a minimalist and modern design. The whitewashed walls, the traditional hand-made terracotta floor tiles in rust and beige, the vaulted ceilings, the old bread oven, and the stones have all contributed to this house’s unique charm. The furniture, beds, tables and sofas have all been made from custom-made natural wood.

Farmhouse of the Palms offers 7 spacious rooms, which embody authentic Portuguese style combined with modern comfort. Each one is different, yet simply furnished and decorated in light tones, with white, wood, natural stone, white cotton sheets, woven carpets, in all Mediterranean atmosphere. The bathrooms, which are lined with smooth concrete, are equipped with rain showers and local handcrafted soap. Each room includes its own private patio. Rooms 1, 2 and 3 are located on the ground floor, 4 and 5 upstairs, and 6 and 7 in the former stables. Bedroom 4 offers two terraces, one of which is on the roof where you can sleep under the starry sky.

The homemade breakfast, using local products, is served outside under the carob trees, and varies from day to day.

The house offers plenty of space to relax and unwind, including several lounges, a library corner, a dining room, terraces with hammocks, a garden with trees and a swing bed, as well as a large black mosaic swimming pool.
