June: Hotel in Los Angeles
The Proper Hospitality Group has launched a new hotel brand, June, whose first location opened in Los Angeles.
More than a hotel, a place to be
Located in Westside in the coastal town of Santa Monica, near LAX International Airport, June is the new affordable lifestyle hotel launched by the Proper Hospitality Group.
Brian De Lowe, one of the group’s two founders, describes the new concept as “more fun, more casual”. The hotel, formerly known as the Custom hotel, is an emblematic building from the 1950s. It has been renovated and decorated by the Venice based Studio Collective, in a typical Californian beach spirit. A fun and sober look, bright and contemporary interiors, with elements common to Proper such as custom furniture, sisal carpets in natural fibers, light natural woods, native-style fabrics, handmade tiles, and local art.
The hotel offers 250 spacious rooms in a minimalist and modern design, many of which boasting beautiful ocean or city views. The rooms are fitted with oak beds, Fili D’Oro Italian sheets, retro furniture, works by local artists and artisans, and ceramic-colored tapestries reflecting the West Coast’s creative spirit. The bathrooms are lined with hand-glazed tiles from Brazil and equipped with Aesop toiletries. This aesthetic also extends to June’s other amenities.
The restaurant and bar, designed by Steve Livigni, serves seafood and local products, as well as organic spirits from the California coast. Both being located in the lobby, the restaurant and bar allow guests and locals alike to meet in the heart of the hotel. The Caravan Swim Club, which features a shaded terrace, private cabins, sun loungers and a pool, is surrounded by lush vegetation.
The June Hotel caters to travelers looking for design, dining, and community at an affordable price.
