Located in Malibu on the iconic Pacific Coast Highway, across the street from the famous Surfrider Beach, The Surfrider is a beach house-style design hotel with a fun and inspiring atmosphere.

Originally the former Malibu Shores motel designed in 1953, it was renovated and transformed by Matthew Goodwin (architect and surfer), his wife Emma Crowther (interior design), and their partner Alessandro Zampedri (race car driver), in collaboration with the Burdge Architects studio, into a contemporary and casual hotel. The goal was to reinvent the iconic California beach house so that guests would feel at home.

The Surfrider offers 20 gnarly cool rooms, each with its own balcony, beach view, and hammock. The rooms are light colors in shades of white, with painted wood panel walls and salvaged teak flooring. The decoration is minimalist, bohemian and chic, consisting of concrete hangers, hand-woven baskets, stone side tables, Bellino linen sheets, custom furniture (four-poster beds, metal frame chairs), textured carpets, wicker lampshades, artwork, books, photographs, ceramics, as well as plants. The bathrooms are equipped with rain showers, Grown Alchemist toiletries and Parachute Home bathrobes.

Common areas include a lounge/library on the first floor. The rooftop includes a bar, and a large terrace with a fireplace and comfortable sofas, offering a breathtaking view of the sunset. The guest restaurant serves healthy cuisine with local seasonal products. Custom surfboards and paddles are available.
