The Pool House is a rental holiday house located a 10-minute walk from the beach, in the beachside town of Mooloolaba, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, and a 1.5-hour drive from Brisbane.

Originally it was a modest and dilapidated house that was purchased in 2016 by Hannah Williams, owner and also real estate developer. The property named Vacay Co consists of two houses which can be rented individually or together. The Pool House is a new construction added in 2018 to the rear of the property. This space was designed with the help of his cousin Rohan Williams and his team from Total Building & Construction. The house is clad in black painted wood siding contrasting beautifully with stark white window frames and roofing.

With a surface area of 30 sqm, the house can accommodate 2 people. It consists of a bright double-height living room opening onto a garden with a fire pit, an equipped kitchen opening onto a patio with a dining area, and a hidden laundry room. Books and objects are stored on high shelves, accessible by a ladder. A staircase leads to the mezzanine bedroom, to an adjacent dressing room, and to a bathroom with a shower, separated by a sliding barn-style wooden partition. The interior styling of the house combines coastal flair with a touch of New York loft, including white painted brick and wood walls, smooth concrete floors, wooden floors, white Carrara marble tiles, geometric tiles, black Smeg kitchen furniture and appliances, and a concrete sink. A green velvet sofa, textured rugs and cushions, wicker armchairs, a table, chairs, stools and wooden shelves, log side tables, metal and linen pendant lights, linen sheets, dried flowers, and green plants, add rustic charm. Large floor-to-ceiling openings blur the lines between inside and outside. The vibe is fresh and relaxed. The property has a shared swimming pool. The Pool House is an ideal retreat in summer as in winter.
