The definition of tranquility

Surrounded by lush greenery and breath-taking views, K house is a rental holiday house located on a secluded beachfront within Sri Lanka’s Southern Province.

The K name of the house came from the neighbouring small fishing village called Kottegoda. Completed at the end of 2018, the 350 m2 complex consists of two individual buildings was designed by Danish studio Norm Architects and Chinese studio Aim Architecture to make the most of its tropical setting. K house offers a rough luxury experience with an architecture that effortlessly blends into the landscape. The East house is placed atop a hill, opening up to the sea, while the West house is slightly tucked away, providing a more sheltered feel. Together the two form an L-shape, framing the garden and centrally placed pool area. The architecture is composed of natural materials; local teak wood, polished terrazzo, facades of polished cement and outdoor areas of local granite stone. The roof is made of recycled terracotta tiles which complements the overall natural look and tactile feel. The two houses each include a living space with lounge, dining room and kitchen, as well as three bedrooms and three bathrooms, to accommodate 6 people in total. Two rooms have bathrooms opening up to private courtyards, giving you the luxurious sensation of being in nature when showering. The houses have their own distinct characters, but share common design details and materials. They have a minimalist decoration, with concrete walls and floors, large opening with wooden shutters, bespoke teakwood furniture (tables, chairs, headboards, inbuilt sofa, etc.), and locally sourced objects and accessories, creating a modern, familiar and warmest atmosphere. Access from the garden leads down to a preserved sandy beach and a natural pool formed by rocks. Breakfast is included.
