House B is an architecturally unique holiday home located in the middle of the rolling countryside in Provence.

A half-hidden house

House B is a house for rent located in Mollans-sur-Ouvèze village, in the middle of the rolling countryside of northern Provence in the Drome region.

Completed in 2015, the house is a new build designed by the Belgian architectural firm B-Bis, based in Antwerp. Nestled on a sloping ground, the house hidden from view, half buried in the hill, has been entirely built from traditional and local materials. From the outside, the house appears much smaller than it really is. The structure is L-shaped with a sloping green roof, allowing the house to blend harmoniously into the surroundings. One wing comprises a spacious open plan living space including a comfortable living room with sofas and a fireplace, a dining area and a fully equipped open kitchen. The space has large south-facing bay windows allowing natural light to enter, and offering a breathtaking view of the hilly landscape in the distance. The other wing of the house in the basement, accessible by a small wooden staircase, consists of 4 bedrooms with windows, semi-recessed in the slope. Each bedroom has its own bathroom or shower room. There are also two toilets to share. The layout of the rooms offers a an intimate atmosphere and allows them to stay cool or at a good temperature during the summer heat. Minimalist, elegant and functional, the interiors feature a neutral and warm palette, with smooth concrete floors, raw concrete beams, light wood ceilings, exposed natural stone walls, combined with simple and contemporary furnishings. The house is fully heated with underfloor heating and also by the fireplace. The living space opens onto a covered terrace, a garden, a heated concrete large swimming pool bordered by sunbeds and a long stone wall. There is also a pétanque court, a table tennis, a wooden sauna box, and a parking.

Different from the houses that can be found in the region, House B offers an atypical hideaway in the wonderfull South of France.
