Harlosh Black H is a cabin for rent, located on a small peninsula off the rugged and beautiful west coast of the Isle of Skye in Scotland.
The cabin was designed in 2018 for Harlosh by Sleat-based studio Dualchas Architects. Nestled on a small piece of rural land known as a croft, overlooking Loch Vatten and offering views of the Cuillins to the east and the Macleod Tables to the west, Black H has been positioned and designed to both withstand the weather and embrace the surrounding landscape. A look outside you may just see the sea otters and neighboring dolphins, and also see a sheep or two. The cabin features a contemporary and simple structure with a boxy form, a flat roof, clad in dark stained oak that fits comfortably in the landscape. The space that can accommodate two people is open plan and divided into two volumes; the living space with a lounge and an open equipped kitchen and the sleeping area with a bedroom with luxury bedding, a bathroom with walk-in shower, and a laundry room. Minimalist interiors display a sleek aesthetic with neutral colors, clean lines, white walls, custom-made oak furniture by cabinetmaker Namon Gaston, light wood accents in all spaces, complemented by leather lounge chairs and sheepskin rugs. Despite its remote location, it offers modern amenities including good wifi, a bluetooth stereo speaker, satellite TV, mobile coverage, and DAB radio. It also has an ecological heat pump for underfloor heating. In order to take advantage of the views from every room, the cabin incorporates floor-to-ceiling glazing at either end to frame the panorama. A pair of terraces to the front and rear of the building provide places to catch the sunrise and sunset.
