Welcome to the house

Casa Criollo is a house for rent located in Oaxaca de Juares, Mexico. Casa Criollo is an extension of the famous gourmet restaurant Criollo run by Mexican chefs Enrique Olvera and Luis Arellano.

The house, completed in 2019, was designed in collaboration with architect Javier Sanchez of the JSa studio. Casa Criollo is an invitation to relax and escape. Just behind the restaurant nestled in an elegant bohemian house listed as a Unesco heritage, the house that can comfortably accommodate 4 guests, consists of a living room with large windows, two double bedrooms, and two bathrooms with walk-in rainfall shower. The interiors, created in collaboration with the Mexican interior design firm Habitacion116, feature a minimalist and contemporary style. The decoration is natural and raw, with concrete floors and walls, neutral and sober tones, touches of salmon spread throughout the home, wooden furniture, and typical textiles. All combined with objects and accessories highlighting local know-how and craftsmanship. The space is comfortable, with great attention to the details. Outside there is a beautiful terrace, a comfortable sitting area, a wooden dining table, a swimming pool with sun loungers for cooling off and enjoying the sun, a built-in sauna, and a hammock for relaxing. The combination of native plants and concrete creates a spacious and calm atmosphere. The real advantage of staying at Casa Criollo is the generous and delicious breakfast served every morning, directly from Olvera’s kitchen. A menu of Criollo snacks, made with local and seasonal ingredients, is available via the room service. It is possible to have lunch or dinner at the restaurant and savor authentic Oaxacan cuisine. Cooking classes, mezcal tastings, yoga classes, massages and guided tours can be arranged. Casa Criollo offers a unique and luxurious retreat that mixes good food, design and local art.

It is the perfect place to stay and explore Oaxaca.
