The apartment is owned by Justine Bell and Jonas Diernes, a South African and Danish architect couple living in Copenhagen, who love to travel. They transformed this historic apartment themselves in 2017 into a comfortable and quiet space.

The 120 sqm apartment can accommodate up to 3 people. It consists of a generous living room, a dining room, an equipped kitchen, directly connected to a sunny balcony, as well as a large master bedroom, a bedroom with a single bed, a study, and a bathroom with a shower. They restored original architectural details such as wooden floors and ceiling moldings, and introduced new contemporary additions to provide a strong yet understated contrast. The apartment is furnished with a mixture of mid-century Scandinavian furniture, contemporary furniture, auction finds, and pieces from Justine’s home in South Africa. With a focus on natural and luxurious materials such as wood and stone, they allowed the history of the place to inspire the design. Wood paneling in the same tone as the floor crosses the lower half of the living room and one of the main walls of the dining room. Touches of grayish-blue color on the walls, textile accessories such as cushions and rugs, and houseplants, add warmth to space. The industrial-style kitchen has been made to measure, and has a very cozy kitchen nook for breakfasts. The master bedroom has a king-size Tempurpedic bed. The bathroom has underfloor heating and a rainfall shower. The whole apartment is delightfully spacious and airy, with wonderful views and spectacular light. Everything is there to feel comfortably at home. The apartment has been featured in various design publications including magazines and books.
