Santa Monica Proper: Hotel in Santa Monica
As the name suggests, the newly opened Santa Monica Proper hotel is located in one of the most emblematic areas of Los Angeles.
Casual luxury in Santa Monica
Located just a few blocks from the infamous Santa Monica beaches, The Santa Monica Proper hotel introduces you to casual luxury.
The hotel is spread over two buildings with various styles. The first, carefully restored, is a six-story Spanish neo-colonial building, designed in 1928. The other, a newer building, is a contrasting, contemporary, and minimalist design with undulating glass and concrete facades.
The interior design was imagined by Kelly Wearstler who has reinterpreted the relaxed Californian lifestyle. A soft color palette of earthy tones, natural materials, wood floors, organic textiles, patterned fabrics, palm trees and artwork by Los Angeles artists create a warm beachy mood.
The hotel offers 271 suites decorated with huge headboards and both vintage and modern furniture. The bathrooms are finished in darker shades of marble and copper.
The Southern California influence can also be found in the food at Santa Monica Proper. On the first floor, the hotel’s signature restaurant, Onda, offers a menu with Mexican and Californian flavors using seasonal Californian ingredients. While the rooftop bistro Calabra combines fresh Mediterranean and Californian cuisine with stunning ocean views.
With a rooftop pool, a yoga deck on the second floor, an ayurvedic spa, a state-of-the-art fitness center, surfboards and bicycles at your disposal, there is no shortage of activities.
Santa Monica Proper doesn’t just reflect the luxurious aspect of Southern California’s relaxed lifestyle, it is the pure definition of it.
