Quinta de São Bernardo is located on the bank of the Douro River, in Mesão Frio in the heart of the Douro wine region, one hour east of Porto.

With a history rich in family tradition, Quinta de São Bernardo is a charming, modern, and rural hotel offering a haven of serenity. Built-in 1912, the farm and the surrounding vineyards have remained in the Monteiro family since many years. The property was completely renovated in 2017 by Diogo Monteiro (architect and grandson of the previous owner) and his wife Marcela.

The hotel offers 7 rooms in the main building and 2 newer villas with private pools. All are comfortable and decorated in a “farmhouse” style resulting from a mixture of contemporary elements and rustic and classic elements. Some rooms have a terrace with a view of the river while others have a partial view of the vineyards. The bathrooms are equipped with a shower or freestanding bathtub.

In terms of gastronomy, Quinta de São Bernardo guarantees a Douro experience, maximum inspired by the farm to the table: a buffet breakfast, a lunch menu made up of light dishes, and a unique dinner menu, changing every day. There is no chef, but a cook who prepares a typical Portuguese dinner, with products from the organic garden and respecting the seasons. There are many areas to relax; an infinity pool allowing bathers to enjoy the view of the mountain and the boats that descend the Douro River, an outdoor terrace overlooking the river ideal for a drink while admiring the view, as well as a lounge with comfortable sofas and a fireplace. It is possible to participate in wine tastings and to walk in the vineyards.
