Public is a hotel located in a newly constructed building in the heart of New York’s hip Lower East Side.

Commissioned by the legendary hotelier Ian Schrager, the Public hotel opened in 2017, nestled in a 28-story tower, designed by Swiss firm Herzog & de Meuron.

The Public concept is a luxury is being democratized and is now for everyone. It’s a new definition of luxury, a one-of-a-kind experience. The entrance to the hotel is hidden in a lush garden. In the hall, an escalator lit with orange neon lights allows guests to reach the lobby. Check-in is done directly on the Ipad.

The Public hotel boasts 367 rooms divided in 11 different options. Sleek, minimalist and compact, the rooms have amenities to suit the needs of modern travelers: a bed with a fur bed throw, bedside tables, a sitting area, super-fast Wi-Fi, an Apple TV, Bose Bluetooth speakers, accessible sockets (USB, electrical, etc.), floor-to-ceiling windows and touch-controlled blackout shades. The rooms feature a sober and neutral palette, with hardwood floors, concrete ceilings, and marble accents. Each bedroom has its own bathroom.

The hotel has many communal spaces that are specifically designed to foster interaction. During the day, the lobby allows taking advantage of natural light, while in the evening, it reveals a subdued and intimate atmosphere. Louis is a hybrid catering space with a café, a restaurant, a grocery store, and a market. On the top floor, The Roof offers an incredible 360-degree view of Manhattan (either from floor-to-ceiling windows inside or the expansive terrace outside). At night, the bar morphs into a nightlife hotspot.
