Paramount House: Hotel in Sydney

Paramount House hotel redefines preconceived notions of hotel accommodation by offering an experience unlike any other.

Book Paramount House

The former Australian headquarters of Paramount Picture studios

The Paramount House hotel is located in the trendy Sussy Hills area of Sydney.

Russell Beard, Ping Jin Ng and Mark Dundon’s project began in 2013 with the opening of the Coffee Project and the Golden Age Cinema & Bar, followed by The Office Space a co-working space, then that of the Paramount House hotel in April 2018. The complex consists of two buildings built in 1940 – the former headquarters of the film studio and an adjoining dedicated brick warehouse to movie storage. The two buildings were restored and linked together with a two-storey extension. These floors have been transformed into a hotel by the firm Breathe Architecture based in Melbourne. Original elements have been preserved.

The hotel has 29 rooms divided into several options: Every day, Sunny, Loft, and the Mack Daddy suite where space reigns supreme. Rooms are all unique both in terms of layout and decoration. The rooms feature an eclectic and authentic style with wooden floors, exposed brick walls, concrete ceilings, and floor-to-ceiling windows. There are beds covered in Cultivate linen sheets, Seljak merino wool blankets, artwork from the local China Heights gallery, contemporary lighting, Commons Ceramics mugs, Australian designer furniture, and lot of green plants. Most of the rooms have a terrace that overlooks the busy streets. Bathrooms are dressed in terrazzo, copper pipes, large round mirrors, and feature rain showers or Japanese-style wooden bathtub, and Aesop toiletries. The overall result is a well-balanced blend of rustic charm, with luxurious touches and undeniable style. On-site there are all amenities including the Poly by Ester restaurant and the Paramount Recreation Club, a wellness area on the rooftop.

The complex is a veritable place of social gathering but also a chic industrial hideaway that you won’t want to leave.
