O Lugar

O Lugar: Guesthouse in Porto Covo

In Porto Covo, O Lugar is a guesthouse where Scandinavian style meets the Mediterranean.

Book O Lugar

Scandinavian and Mediterranean influences

O Logar is a guesthouse nestled in the center of the fishing village of Porto Côvo, on the Vicentina coast in Alentejo.

Opened in 2017, O Lugar means “the place”. This guesthouse was born from Pedro Martins’ grandfather’s dream to welcome people from all over the world. The house is designed in graceful proportions, with two floors and a garden. Pedro’s parents live on the first floor and own the bakery across the street.

The interior design concept is signed by the Portuguese studio Arkstudio (also Casa C’alma). The interiors combine a modern design with handcrafted Portuguese elements. The style is Nordic and Mediterranean at the same time, minimalist, clean, with simple design, mainly white, and with some touches of navy blue and black.

On the top floor of the house, there are 6 bright rooms, 5 of which have a balcony overlooking the island of Pessegueiro. Each room is decorated differently, with natural and local materials, such as wood and textiles, along with typical regional artisan objects combined with decorative pieces, to create an eclectic, calm, and pluralistic space. Each room has its own bathroom, equipped with towels and soft cotton bathrobes, and Meraki toiletries.

Breakfast is composed of an armada of local products; bread from Pedro’s parents’ bakery, honey from his brother, jam from his mother-in-law, and cheeses from the town of Odemira. There is no television, but there is a comfortable shared living room with books, magazines, and board games.

O Lugar is a hideaway that invites you to slow down, disconnect, and enjoy the dolce farniente.
