La Coorniche: Hotel in Pyla

Leaning against the Pyla dunes, La Coorniche hotel overlooks a breathtaking panoramic view over the Arcachon bay and the ocean.

Book La Coorniche

A stunning view

Situated on the Arcachon Bay, where you’ll find the Dune du Pyla facing Cap Ferret, the La Coorniche hotel has an outstanding location between the ocean and the pine forests behind it.

Originally a hunting lodge built in 1930, later becoming a sleepy hotel-restaurant, Louis Gaume‘s neo-Basque building was completely renovated in 2010. Its new owners, Sophie and William Téchoueyres (a former rugby player) redesigned the entire place, combining originality and preserved authenticity. The hotel’s decoration was entirely undertaken by Philippe Starck (who considers it among the most beautiful spots in the world), with a style that is resolutely contemporary, trendy, refined and luminous, with white as the predominant color.

At the beginning there were 12 rooms, but due to its success, the establishment had to push back the walls in 2013 to add 18 more rooms. Adorned with wood panelling and striped tarpaulins, the 9 new cabins on stilts are a reference to the oyster farming village of L’Herbe. The rooms have a balcony with a breathtaking view of the surrounding area. They are decorated with Stark’s signature style with whitewashed wood panelling, large mirrors including the one above the bed, white linen, yellow and white striped wooden partitions, black and white photographs, books, ceramics and quotes from poetry. The bathrooms are in marble with walk-in showers and glass dividers.

Under the white umbrellas on the wooden terrace, the restaurant serves refined cuisine and seafood, whereas the bar serves tapas all day long. The hotel also features an infinity pool surrounded by comfortable sun loungers, a lobby, and hotel boutique.

La Coorniche, is a simply irresistible address.
