In Sitio da Cumeada, in the middle of the Barrocal of the Algarve, at the crossroads of several paths, next to the town of Tavira, a new rural hotspot has opened its doors.

About 1 km from Pensao Agricola, Hospedaria is the second address of founders, Rui and Nuno, who own Grupo Pensão Agricola. Hospedaria means “hostel” in Portuguese. The original building dating back to 1917 was the only post office and public telephone in the area, and was also a tavern/grocery store that had been abandoned for over 30 years. It was renovated in collaboration with the architectural studio Atelier RUA, who gave the place a newfound vitality, and found timeless souvenirs and objects to design a guesthouse in a rural and low-key style. The common areas are comfortable spaces with original details like the hotel bar.

Hospedaria has 5 rooms, 2 designed in their original layout and 3 new newly designed rooms. Each room has a private patio, and others have either a fireplace or outdoor shower. The decoration harmoniously mixes the past with contemporary touches, where you’ll find soft colors of white and beige, light woods, waxed concrete, sisal carpets, and antique objects and furniture.

Breakfast is served every morning outside beneath the pergola with fruit and eggs from the neighboring farms, bread and pastries from the local bakery, and olive oil and jams from the trees of Pensao Agricola. Hospedaria has a comfortable living room with a fireplace, an indoor dining room with a large common table, an outdoor sunbathing area with an honesty bar and a heated swimming pool.

Open all year round, Hospedaria is a place for those with a taste for the simple life.
