Herman K is a design hotel housed in a disused electrical transformer station in central Copenhagen.

A power station transformed into a hotel

Ideally located in the vibrant Bremerholm district in the heart of Copenhagen, Herman K hotel is nestled in an electrical transformer station dating from 1963.

The building was acquired and renovated in 2018 by the Danish group Brøchner Hotels. In 2020 the hotel was sold to Frantz Longhi, architect and businessman behind Dansk Management Group. Many original features have been preserved such as most of the existing skeleton, the imposing concrete frame, the dark bronze slats on the facade, the giant green iron doors inside, as well as the terrazzo stairs, creating a brutalist charm. The hotel entrance opens onto a spectacular 12-meter-high central space, dominated by a 3D printed installation suspended above the brushed steel bar. The atmosphere is industrial, minimalist and understated. The interiors present a warm atmosphere characterized by subtle colors and carefully selected designer Danish furniture, with creations from Paustian and Warm Nordic.

The hotel offers 31 rooms, including a penthouse suite with a roof terrace, in a modern Scandinavian style. The rooms are designed with warm shades of gray, concrete walls, plush carpeting, soft fabrics, leather armchairs, sleek contemporary furnishings, thick curtains, and custom-made beds with headboards inspired by business class cabins. The bathrooms are adorned with white marble, with ceramic sinks and led lights placed in unusual places. They are filled with Ren Clean Skincare toiletries and fitness kits with yoga mats.

In addition to the organic buffet breakfast, the Roxie restaurant offers bistro-style cuisine with traditional Scandinavian recipes.
