Opened in summer 2020, The Fresneda María hotel is located in Andalusia between Malaga and Granada, in the rural village of Villanueva del Rosario.

The hotel was designed by the Malaga-based architecture studio Gana Arquitectura in collaboration with Fana Interiorismo for the interior design. The property consists of two buildings. The ancient Andalusian Cortijo (traditional cottage), steeped in history, nestled in the heart of an olive grove, has been rehabilitated. Intended for the cultivation of the olive tree, the old farmhouse now houses the common areas of the hotel, as well as some rooms. An extension with a more modern architecture has been added, displaying sharp geometries and shapes on its facade that are reminiscent of the mountains that surround it. Traditional and contemporary architecture harmonizes perfectly with the characteristic rural natural environment of Sierra de Málaga.

Fresneda María has 20 rooms distributed over each of the buildings. The rooms have a minimalist, rural and Andalusian style, with high ceilings, exposed beams painted in white, smooth concrete floors, natural fabrics, rustic and contemporary furniture, traditional materials, and a high level of comfort. All rooms have large windows opening onto a balcony or terrace and provide a connection between interior and exterior, inviting tranquility and enjoyment of the landscape filled with mountains and olive trees. Each room has an en suite bathroom with a rainfall shower.

Common areas include several lounge spaces with comfortable sofas, a dining room, a bar, and a restaurant. A central terrace, designed as a square, distributes the space and connects both buildings. The hotel also has an infinity swimming pool, a solarium, and a spa with a jacuzzi and sauna.
