Experimental Marais: Hotel in Paris
Nestled in the heart of the vibrant Marais, Experimental Marais redefines the Parisian hotel experience, blending timeless elegance with avant-garde spirit.
Experimental Marais: A Parisian hideaway with a bold spirit
Experimental Marais is five-star establishment, formerly known as Sinner, invites travelers on a unique sensory journey, where every detail tells a story.
Located at 116 Rue du Temple, Experimental Marais enjoys a prime setting in one of Paris’s most historic and artistic neighborhoods. The Marais, with its cobbled streets, contemporary art galleries, and designer boutiques, offers a mix of bohemian charm and sophisticated allure. From the hotel, guests can wander to Place des Vosges, visit the Picasso Museum, or sip coffee at a lively terrace, watching the ever-changing scene of Parisian life unfold.
Experimental Marais is the brainchild of the visionary Experimental Group, renowned for iconic establishments such as Grand Pigalle and Grand Boulevard. In 2025, the group transformed the former Sinner Hotel into a space that reflects a neo-Gothic aesthetic inspired by 1940s Manhattan while paying homage to the rich history of the district. This metamorphosis, led by the talented designer Tristan Auer, breathes new life into the space, seamlessly blending past and present with rare elegance.
Tristan Auer, who originally designed Sinner in 2019, reimagined Experimental Marais by drawing inspiration from neo-Gothic influences and the vibrant energy of 1940s New York. The theatrical common areas contrast with the luxurious rooms, creating an atmosphere that is both lively and intimate. The walls are adorned with artworks by Clovis Retif, adding a contemporary touch to the space. The result is a delicate balance of opulence and restraint, where every design element contributes to the hotel’s captivating narrative.
The hotel offers 43 carefully designed rooms, each serving as a peaceful retreat in the heart of the capital. Featuring noble materials and artistic touches, the interiors reflect the spirit of the Marais. Guests can choose from various room categories, all equipped with modern amenities while preserving the charm and elegance that define Experimental Marais.
A Distinctive Culinary Experience
The hotel’s restaurant, Temple & Chapon, pays homage to American steakhouses with a refined French twist. Under the direction of chef Mélanie Serre, who trained under the legendary Joël Robuchon, the menu features signature dishes such as Rockefeller oysters, lobster rolls, and grilled T-bone steak. The grand dining hall, with its soaring ceilings and Clovis Retif’s striking artworks, sets the stage for an unforgettable gastronomic experience. Meanwhile, the American Bar, inspired by classic New York cocktail lounges, offers an inventive drinks menu, perfect for starting—or ending—an evening in style.
For relaxation, Experimental Marais boasts a spa by La Colline, offering a range of revitalizing treatments in a serene setting. A heated indoor pool invites guests to unwind after a day of urban exploration. The hotel also provides tailored concierge services, ensuring that every guest enjoys a bespoke experience that meets their every need.
More than just a place to stay, Experimental Marais is a destination in itself. It embodies the essence of the Marais, blending history, art, and modernity. Whether visiting Paris for business or leisure, this hotel promises an immersive experience, where every moment is designed to enchant and inspire.
