Ett Hem: Hotel in Stockholm
Hidden among the residential buildings in the capital's embassy district, Ett Hem redefines the notion of luxury hotels in Stockholm.
A home in Stockholm
In the upscale residential area of Östermalm in Stockholm, Ett Hem, “a house” in Swedish, is a hotel set in a former red-brick townhouse dating from 1910.
The original building has been tastefully renovated and furnished by the owner Jeanette Mix, as well as the decorator Ilse Crawford and her team at Studioilse. The spirit of the house has been carefully preserved to be a warm contemporary hotel where you can lay back as if you were home. The house is designed with warm colors, gold accents, wood, marble, comfortable fabrics such as velvet and leather, and with original herringbone floors. Upon entering, you’re immediately welcomed by a woody fragrance. A muffled atmosphere dominates the premises, in a style that is both classic and contemporary. Here, each room has its own personality.
There are 12 rooms, each different and spread over three floors. They are decorated with great attention to detail, with a mix of vintage and modern design, custom-made furniture and Scandinavian design classics. Some are equipped with a brass cocktail cabinet and earthenware heaters. The bathrooms are finished in marble with touches of brass for the faucets. Every morning a seasonal breakfast is served at the table. In the evening, it is possible to dine in the open kitchen among the busy chefs.
On the first floor there are various living spaces; a living room where armchairs and stools are alongside a huge sofa with lacquered furniture, a library, and a veranda with an adjoining garden.
In the basement, there is also a fitness area including a sauna and steam room. Books and magazines are available throughout the house.
Ett Hem is not a regular hotel, it’s Swedish hospitality.
