Opened in 2017, Eden Locke is located on George Street, Edinburgh’s most prestigious shopping and restaurant district, the Scottish capital.

Eden Lock is part of the Locke Living collection, a lifestyle and design-led aparthotel chain. A five-storey former Georgian freestone and slate mansion and a modern adjoining extension have been transformed by New York-based architects Grzywinski + Pons. Existing details have been kept like the arrangement of the windows and doors, but floor plans have been reorganized to be open and more airy. The style of the hotel is sophisticatedly tropical, contrasting with its 18th-century stone exterior, and with the rigor and austerity of the buildings. Interiors feature delightfully pastel color walls, powdery tones, curved wood and wicker furniture, brass, stone, concrete, and dim lighting, to showcase the soft Scottish natural light that pours through the large windows.

Eden Locke consists of 72 suites that combine the best of a design hotel with the space and comfort of an apartment. The suites are stylish and spacious, meticulously designed, modernly furnished, and include all the necessities for a night’s stay, a month’s stay, or more. Each suite has a sleeping area, a walk-in closet, a lounge area with a mint green L-shaped sofa, a bathroom with a rain shower and Kinsey Apothecary natural products, an open-plan fitted kitchen, a dining area, and a yoga mat.

On the main floor, Hide & Son, Eden Locke’s café-bar, is a true oasis in which to settle down for a drink, work, or relax. Here, the green-painted walls are paired with a variety of wicker furniture custom-made by the studio, knitted floor cushions, and an abundance of green plants in terracotta pots.
