Deplar Farm: Hotel in Ólafsfjörður

Deplar Farm offers a unique experience, cut off from the world, in the middle of nature, where relaxation, adventure, and fine dining meet at the foot of the mountain.

Book Deplar Farm

An icelandic retreat

Deplar Farm is located in the Fljot Valley, on the mountainous Tröllaskagi Peninsula (the Troll Peninsula) in the north of Iceland.

To reach the destination from the capital Reykjavik, you will have to cross the country to the city of Akureyri, then drive a good hour to the hotel. The raw and wild landscape immediately sets the tone, with mountains sculpted by ice, lakes, and plains scattered with sheep.

Deplar Farm was originally an 18th-century sheepfold that housed over 300 sheep. The farm has been renovated and converted into a luxurious and intimate retreat that opened in 2016. Deplar Farm is owned by the Eleven Experience Group, a hotel concept that offers stays focused on adventure and experience in exceptional locations. The hotel’s design includes a contemporary expansion that blends in perfectly with the original architecture, black wood paneling on the exterior, a roof covered with vegetation, and large floor-to-ceiling openings that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Deplar Farm houses 13 rooms decorated in a modern Scandinavian style with warm light tones. The atmosphere is elegant and cozy with contemporary furniture and reindeer skin covers. Each room has a bathroom with a steam shower, underfloor heating and Aesop products.

Meals made with local products from the farm to the table are shared around a large guest table. There are several spaces where you can curl up in a very hygge spirit; a living room with soft armchairs and sofas, fireplaces, and candles lit throughout the day. The hotel has a geothermal heated indoor-outdoor infinity pool and a black stone spa. Numerous activities are offered.

Deplar Farm is a unique experience away from it all.
