Casona Los Cedros is located in Espita, 2 hours from Mérida and Cancun, in the heart of the Yucatan Peninsula. Espita is an authentic town very central, close to the ruins of Ek Balam and Chichen Itza, flamingos and the Rio Lagartos lagoon, the city of Valladolid, and many cenotes.

Opened in 2020, Casona Los Cedros is the project of a French couple, Laura Lecué architect, and her companion Alan Montfort. They renovated and transformed an old colonial building abandoned for more than thirty years, which was a family home, then a popular cantina.

Embedded in a lush garden, the hotel consists of two spaces. The old part renovated using materials, local craftsmen and traditional techniques accommodates the common areas while a new contemporary construction houses the rooms. Stone, natural fiber, pixoy, chukum, certified wood, and lime make up the palette of materials, creating an aesthetic dialogue between the old and the contemporary.

Casona Los Cedros consists of 9 rooms in a modern minimalist style. Each has an en suite bathroom with a rain shower and a private terrace. There is also a suite with a private plunge pool. The rooms are designed in raw concrete and are furnished with local crafts: bejuco lamps, embroidered textiles and furniture made by the carpenters of the village. There are also Yucatan Sences toiletries, a local and organic brand.

The hotel has a gourmet bar-restaurant, where chef Jorge Ildefonso works with organic products from local producers or from Casona’s vegetable garden. There is also a large exotic garden populated with cacti, agaves and succulents, an infinity pool surrounded by relaxation areas, a covered terrace, and a shop with local crafts. The hotel also offers yoga classes on the rooftop.
