Casa Yuma: Hotel in Puerto Escondido

A wild getaway offering invigorating seaside life

Casa Yuma is a new boutique hotel located on Los Naranjos Beach and minutes from the bustling village of La Punta, in the Mexican municipality of Puerto Escondido, on Mexico’s Pacific coast. To reach the hotel, you must cross peaceful fields with cows and horses.

This exclusive adults-only seaside retreat was designed by Sara Skalli, Camille Lambert and Tim de Belloy. Sara Skalli, also served as the hotel’s interior designer. The hotel was designed by architect Ricardo de La Concha of TAAC Architecture Studio to blend into its surroundings. The use of Chukum vegetable concrete (an Indigenous Mexican material made from tree resin and limestone), locally sourced macuil wood, salmon pink adobe brick from Oaxaca and cement, contributed to an organic aesthetic.

The reception is housed in a palapa hut, a traditional Mexican cabin with a palm leaf roof.

Casa Yuma consists of 25 rooms with zigzag staircases giving access to rooftop terraces, offering stunning views of the ocean and mountains. The rooms display an authentic, warm and serene atmosphere, a minimalist design, with a palette of refined and natural colors, furniture, decoration and textile elements made by local artisans. These include handmade wall tiles, minimalist nightstands, woven rugs and striped bedspreads, and ceramic lamps, perfectly reflecting Mexican culture.

Facing the Pacific, the open-air restaurant is accessible to all and can accommodate up to 50 guests, offering traditional cuisine from the Oaxaca region, with local flavor and fresh produce.

Casa Yuma offers a coworking lounge, a fire pit area with views of a beautiful sunset, a beach bar, a natural ocean-facing pool, and wellness activities like yoga, meditation, and massages traditional.
