Âmago is located in the Santa Bárbara de Nexe countryside, between the São Brás de Alportel mountains and the Atlantic, in the Algarve region. Âmago is just 15 minutes from Faro airport and a few minutes from the towns of Loulé and Olhão.
Liz and Alex Harvey, British owners with a passion for Portugal, have swapped their city lives in London for the slower pace of the Algarve. They transformed and renovated an old abandoned equestrian center into a modern guesthouse, with the help of the interior design studio Escolhido.
Described as “Uma Casa Lenta”, this slow house was designed as a place where guests can truly “disconnect from everyday life and discover the true essence of the Eastern Algarve”.
Opened in July 2023, the guesthouse is inspired by Portuguese design and traditional Algarve aesthetics, with a modern twist. The place consists of 6 unique rooms that offer a serene escape. Each room has a luxurious super King-size bed, handmade textiles and a large en suite bathroom. The rooms are meticulously designed for comfort and aesthetics. They feature whitewashed walls, traditional beams, a clean and simple style, a neutral and calming color palette, handmade and custom furniture, vintage pieces and works of local artists. The blend of Portuguese heritage with modern design harmonizes perfectly.
This hideaway also has an honesty bar, a saltwater pool and lounge chairs, a terrace area, and several places to relax during the warmer days. The pleasant garden is filled with olive trees and lush plants.
Âmago is much more than just a place to sleep. It is a space to relax, recharge and create authentic and inspiring experiences.
